A dream from school times.
Overseas life made true by Sevenzen.

Ayane Hanai

Director of PATIO, a Freelance Support Website

PROFILE

Joined Sevenzen in 2016 after joining a temporary staffing company as a new graduate. After gaining experience as a project assistant in SI project and PMO assistant in business translation project, was put in charge of building and operating the freelancer support site “PATIO”.
In 2020, moved to Portugal while still working in Sevenzen. Currently is engaged in content planning, maintenance and operation of PATIO, operation of SNS accounts, and construction of an in-house human resources database while living in Porto, Portugal’s second largest city.

Please tell us about your current tasks

I am in charge of maintaining and operating our freelance support site “PATIO”, which posts recruitment information and column articles for freelancers. Specifically, I am responsible for registering recruitment proposals, planning/updating column articles, maintaining the site, and working as a point of contact with development companies.

In addition, I operate Sevenzen’s SNS accounts and am building an internal human resources database.

Sevenzen’s main business is being an agent for freelance human resources. Therefore, centralized management of human resource information and project information is essential for business operations. Therefore, my mission is to centralize information through the operation of PATIO and the construction of a human resource database, and to support the sales activities of the company.

Please tell us about the circumstances that led you to move abroad.

When I was a student, I majored in Portuguese and also studied abroad in Portugal for a year. Around that time, I had a dream of moving to Portugal by the time I was 30.

However, even though I had that dream, I hadn’t really thought about how to make it come true (laughs). When I was taking job interviews during school days, I thought that if I said that I wanted to live abroad in a few years there would be no way they would accept me, so I hid my feelings during the interviews.

But, when I joined Sevenzen I directly told Mr.Yokoyama, the president of the company, about my dream and he reacted very positively and even encouraged me by saying; “Let’s think about how we can make it happen together”.

After that, and after experiencing several tasks, I was able to move overseas by being assigned the task of operating PATIO, which doesn’t require me to visit any customers. Currently, I am working in cooperation with the Japan side through online meetings and other means.

What is the challenge of your current job?

My current motivation is having freelancers register with Sevenzen through PATIO and keeping those members.

What I strongly feel in my current work is that freelancers tend to feel lonely. Freelancers don’t have co-workers, and they tend to feel isolated because they have to pave their own way on their own.

That is why PATIO must become a community that can provide freelancers with a sense of security. And to provide that peace of mind, content should be updated regularly, useful information should be shared, and projects should be posted continuously.

PATIO is still a long way from being completed as a community, and to be honest, we are still fumbling with our current work. However, when I see the number of inquiries and registrations increasing it really makes me feel like living up to the expectations. In the future, I would like to build up a community where we can allow freelancers to maximize their potential, by carrying out my/our daily tasks and achieving small goals one by one.
