Profile

Senior manager (full-time employee)

R.U

Former freelancer from a foreign-affiliated consulting firm. Obtained an MBA overseas and joined Sevenzen after returning to Japan. Since then, has been in charge of various projects and has received high praise from clients.

An urgent need to review
the distribution network -
digital businesses require speed.

U, who started their career at a foreign-affiliated consulting company, has consulted and supported clients through multiple agents. Many of the works are related to supply chain, and U is currently in charge of a project where they are reviewing the distribution network of an apparel brand. U is defining what logistics should look like for the client’s business and supporting everything from planning to execution.

U: “Recently, digital business have been growing rapidly, and while until now the mission of logistics had been to ensure that products are delivered to wholesalers and stores, it is now shifting to delivering them to users quickly and reliably. The warehouses of the client who I’m currently in charge of were not able to respond to these changes in the time, so they asked Sevenzen for support to review the logistics.”

It is important to create a system
that can flexibly respond to changes as the world’s situation changes daily.

U analyzed the issues that the apparel brand they are currently in charge of is having, and provides a plan. Due to U’s work being highly praised, they again received the job offer when the client started a new project after U finished their role.

U: “There are times when the apparel business is at its peak and times when it isn’t, so it’s quite difficult to be able to keep a stable business at all times. Instead of spending a huge amount of money installing large-scale equipment, it is necessary to create a flexible mechanism that can be added when the volume increases and taken away when the volume decreases. Also, since the working population is declining in Japan and it is not possible to hire abundant people, we are conscious of avoiding human intervention as far as possible. Regarding the reasons for continued request, in my self-analysis, it is because I am fairly quick to catch up with client’s business, and I can respond flexibly in various situations.”

Creating an environment
where you can work comfortably
and where you can demonstrate your skills

After working as a freelancer, U chose to join Sevenzen as a full-time employee. I asked them the merits of belonging to Sevenzen and the message they would like to leave to young consultants.

U: “Much of the work Sevenzen provides is project management on the client side, so I believe it will be a great learning experience for young consultants. Compact projects are very interesting, and I think that here you can experience projects that you wouldn’t be able to at a major company. Another great benefit is, Sevenzen provides projects & clients that match with my non-operational requests, such as desired life style, desired future career, and so on. That’s the reason why I belong to Sevenzen.”
